What is the Veterans Exercise program?
Here at Doveston Health, we are very honored to be able to give back to the veteran community. We appreciate their service to our great country both past and present and we are heavily committed to providing the assistance they need in managing their current and future health and wellbeing. We provide exercise physiology and nutrition and dietetics services to both our current Australian Defence Force Members and Eligible Ex-Servicemen.
If you currently hold a Gold or White Card through the Department of Veterans Affairs you are able to access the services on offer at Doveston Body Concepts once you are referred to our clinic through your GP. They are required to refer you under a D904 form and provide a reason as to the purpose of the exercise treatment and/or dietary review. Referrals are valid for 12 months and are required to be updated if the GP believes that they would benefit from continued treatment. The Department of Veteran Affairs provides this service as a method of accessing effective rehabilitation for chronic conditions and improving the quality of life for the eligible veterans.
Our Exercise Physiologists have experience assisting with the management of PTSD through the use of effective exercise methodologies and techniques. Our clinic’s AEP’s also provide our Veterans with rehabilitation advice and guidance with the treatment of chronic conditions associated with musculoskeletal injuries or any injuries sustained through service.
We are continually asked many questions surrounding treatment through the Department of Veterans Affairs and it is very important to note that despite what some Ex-Service personnel may have previously been offered here at Doveston Body Concepts we follow DVA’s guidelines very closely.
